Stéphane Le Diraison, 40 ans, skipper passionné et compétiteur tenace, a décidé de concrétiser son rêve et de prendre le départ du prochain Vendée Globe. Marié et père de deux petites filles, Stéphane a orienté sa vie professionnelle et personnelle avec pour objectif de relever ce challenge audacieux. I bought a new drone, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, to replace my Mavic Pro in hopes of getting even more stunning 4K footage. The 3 big selling features on this new Mavic 2 Pro is the Hasselblad Camera with a 1" sensor and the Omnidirectional obstacle avoidance sensors and advanced artificial Intelligence for better autonomous flight and object tracking. The better camera with the 1" sensor should allow me to get much better photos and video in low light situations. The camera takes 20 MP stills vs 12 MP on the original Mavic Pro. The new camera can shoot in10 bit colour which should also allow for more, true to life video with its ability to capture 1 billion colours. DJI claims this new drone had an advanced AI that can track moving objects even when they pass behind other objects as it predicts where the tracked object will come out on the other side and can keep tracking it. The drone will fly autonomously to keep the object in the center of the frame and with its 6 sided omnidirectional sensors, should allow it to fly in places with a lot of trees and other obstructions and can alter it's flight path automatically to avoid each obstacle. It should be a big improvement over the older Mavic Pro and in this video, I will compare them. I will show you some 4K comparison footage from the 2 cameras and some object tracking. Qingdao is an incredible city offering so many places to play outdoors. We love to take our road bikes out and discover new areas and meet other cyclists. The Laoshan Scenic Area seaside ocean road is TripAdvisor's #1 attraction in Qingdao so you MUST NOT miss it if you are in Qingdao and this video provides maps and instructions on how to do it and what you will see. This was our first time getting through the guard gate entering the Laoshan Mountain area and exiting out the other gate. We call this the "Forbidden Road" because cyclists are not allowed after the guard gate opens at 7 am because there is no shoulder to the road for cyclists to ride on so if you want to ride it or drive it without a fee, cross the gate before 7 am. It was a VERY hilly, undulating ride. We struggled with the many 15-20% graded hills, but we persisted. The scenery along the coast from guard gate to guard gate is barred none some of the most beautiful coastlines I have ever experienced and the ride is challenging and interesting. We love it and it has become our favorite ride in Qingdao. Once we leave the coast and get on the "Provincial Road" to we pass over another mountain which is the steepest to head back home. Next time, we might go and return on the same seaside road. This is definitely a must-see when you visit Qingdao. French Wally 100 Dark Shadow finished the 2019 RORC Transatlantic Race on Friday 6th December in an elapsed time of 13 days 9 hours 11 mins and 3 secs. Dark Shadow was sailed by Andre Auberton-Herve (FRA) and skippered by Yerin Hobson (AUS). "I did the transat almost 12 years ago with the almost the same team. This time it was great, but we had tricky winds and still enjoyed it," commented Andre Auberton-Herve. "Racing with the RORC means great organisation at the departure and a great reception here. The transat was perfect, we loved it - Dark Shadow was flying! We reached 25 knots finally and that was very nice. It was great to put the team back together - The Expendables Transat!"

Vlog# 9 Sailing the Northern Californian Coast from Crescent City to Trinidad Harbour. We sailed into port and anchored in the dark, coming in at night is definitely not our favourite thing to do in ports we have never been to before. Everything went fine in the end, but if you can avoid it, I definitely would! When we woke up in the morning they had moved a barge in right beside us. This made us a little uncomfortable, but obviously not too much as we didn't take the effort to move and anchor. We went into town to stretch the old legs and get some supplies. Wow deals happened and Jessica finally got some veggie hotdogs and was extremely happy about it. We left Crescent City with our next destination being Trinidad Harbour. We had some amazing visitors stop by for quite awhile, DOLPHINS. Love watching them jump around us and follow along for hours. We made it in and dropped the hook before dark. The next day we explored the town. We had to walk with diesel cans sooooo far as there is no fuel dock here. Involved in ocean racing as a teenager and competing regularly as crew in all the Australian Blue Water Classics, Mark first became part of the wooden boat community 25 years ago with the purchase of the 1964 Sparkman and Stevens designed 'Cotton Blossom'. His romance with classic boats established, it was the purchase of his second boat, the 1956 Philip Rhodes designed 'Fair Winds' in Auckland that found him with a seaworthy vessel ready for the demands of both adventure and racing. Thousands of miles and many ocean crossings and races later, Mark also talks about the deep bond and lifelong friendships that you develop with your crew, especially when you sail together for decades.
