We're finally building our own Lego City. This is the first of monthly updates of where we are, what we're doing, how it's looking and how we're approaching the problem. We're back in Vancouver for a visit! Of course, within hours of landing the first thing we do is set up camp on my mom's boat and head out to explore the ocean around Vancouver. We visit Eikens, an out of the way bay up Howe Sound that has water that I swear is the same temperature as in Fiji and I catch some prawns with a salty old sailor. Miya gets to check out to her first International Pride Parade and we head across the Georgia Straight to New Castle Island where we explore an old abandoned sandstone quarry and find a hidden oasis that's a local favorite. The core of "Family Circus" is Chris (Dad / Captain), Sayo (Mom / Admiral), Aya (First Officer / Deckhand) and Miya (Baby / Stainless Polisher). After many years in business in Vancouver we were tired of life inside the box and wanted to make a change, we just weren't exactly sure what would be next. In July of 2016, when Sayo was six months pregnant, we decided (somewhat at the last minute) to fly to New Caledonia for one last holiday before the baby was born. Final de 2020 chegou, pois foi um ano cheio de novas adaptações, trabalhamos muito construindo o interior do nosso barco, criamos o canal aqui no Youtube, e então resolvemos dar uma parada na rotina de trabalhos a bordo, e mudar a rotina de madeira, lixa e verniz para deixar o barco confortável para navegar, pois decidimos navegar entre dezembro e janeiro deixando 30 dias livres para aproveitar o barco. Fizemos uma navegada por lugares lindos e em isolamento conforme as regras de distanciamento social e cuidados que o momento recomenda, ficamos imersos na rotina a bordo, no velejo, observando a natureza enfim aproveitamos cada momento. Mas olha só, paramos a construção para continuar em seguida, assim que o outono chegar, e a temperatura diminuir um pouco, Saímos com a intenção de navegar no Guaíba e na Lagoa dos Patos, conseguimos aproveitar muito nos 30 dias abordo, onde percorremos mais de 400 milhas entre o Guaíba e a Lagoa dos Patos. Depois de reiterar por muitos anos que nunca teria um animal na minha casa, uma cadela pariu na porta da minha residência e fui "obrigado" a cuidar da mãe e de dois filhores. Não gostava desse bicho. Mas, a partir do sétimo mês de idade notei que o macho (o THOR) era muito apegado comigo. Então comecei a leva-lo diariamente nas minhas caminhadas. Criou-se, entre nós, uma amizade muito bonita e elogiada por pessoas amantes dos pets. Com o tempo, de forma natural e impeceptível, o cão passou a me obedecer em muita coisa, Inclisive não atravessandoa rua sem minha ordem. No mês que completei 66 anos, e o Thor 2,5 anos, por insistênica de amigos e principalmente da minha filha, comprei minha primeira bicicleta da vida. Quando fui pedalar a primeira vez meu corção partiu ao deixar meu amigo. Tentei coloco-lo no guidão, mas ele é grande e eu muito barbeiro. Então encostei a bike e não andei enquanto não comprei um reboque para puxá-lo. Como sou aventureiro por natureza, resolvi criar um desafio: sair de Morrinhos, GO, e chegar até Paraty, RJ, onde mora minha filha. The great and the good of UK yachting came to London to honour the best sailors of 2014 at the prestigious boats.com YJA Yachtsman of the Year Awards. The winner of boats.com YJA Yachtsman of the Year Award was none other than Sir Robin Knox-Johnston. It is the fourth time that Sir Robin's has won the accolade, voted on by the UK's yachting journalists—the first dates back to 1969, when he famously became the first person to complete a non-stop solo circumnavigation. At the age of 75, Sir Robin finished an astonishing third in class in the renowned Route du Rhum solo transatlantic race. Accepting his award, Sir Robin said: “At last I’ve caught up with Sir Ben Ainslie having now won my fourth award.
