In this episode, our family sails north from Singapore through the Singapore Strait and into the Malacca Strait, one of the busiest shipping routes in the world. With over 100,000 ships passing through these waters every year, we spend our days navigating busy shipping lanes, dodging thunderstorms, riding favourable currents and finding safe places to anchor each night. The trip begins with an unexpected visit from the Singapore police before we settle into life underway. While Timo keeps watch through the night, the kids and I take over during the day as we continue our journey north through Malaysia. Two large double berths and a single it would be a nice cheap waterside apartment at the very least. With a beam that squeezes easily through the French Canal system and able to cope with long distance cruising this little catamaran has many advantages over comparable catamarans available on the market. Get cheesed off with your neighbours and move on, what a life! You could be sitting in the bay "far from the maddening crowd” sharing the same view with a 6 million Quid super yacht! This is a classic yacht 1979 nearly 40 years old has some stories to tell, travelled to the Baltic, explored the med and been to places where monohulls dare to tread, there is still a lot of life in this old cat yet. With subtle improvements made by her current owner she is in pretty good condition for her years. This type and age of boat holds its value and is almost an appreciating asset unusual on boats and worth throwing even more money on if you desired.….. Depois de uma ancoragem aleatória, as margens do Rio Amazonas, em frente à uma casa de ribeirinho, num remanso...dei seguimento até a cidade de Óbidos. Pouco vento e muita rede de pesca, marcou essa perna. São redes de fundo, sustentado por boias, podendo ser uma simples garrafa pet, tb. Deixando uma pequena faixa para navegação, junto à margem, toda vez é momento de tensão. Nunca me ocorreu de ter cabo ou rede, enroscado no eixo, helice e leme... mas sei que da um trabalho danado remover, ainda mais em um rio de águas barrentas e forte correnteza. Deus me livre!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Em Óbidos o fundeio é num grande remanso, onde o veleiro fica aproado a correnteza, com sentido invertido do rio. Bom que fica no sentido do vento predominantemente. Leste! Aangezien ik mijn Grinde in oktober 2020 heb gekocht wilde ik de boot niet in de winterstalling doen, maar doorvaren. Ik had niet gedacht dat we een strenge winter zouden krijgen. Dit weekend was het code rood met sneeuwjacht op de weg en windkracht 8. De komende dagen vriest het overdag een graad of 4 en 's nachts tussen de 8 en 11. Reden om de boot goed in de gaten te houden. Vandaag halen we twee keer de sneeuw van de boot en checken we de keramische kachel. Gelukkig konden we van de buren een tuinslang lenen voor de doorvoeren van de kuip. Als deze bevriezen en uitzetten kan het stukvriezen. This is the last of three videos where we show you the inner areas of Reverie, our 1985 Pearson 34 sailboat. As part of our sailboat restoration project we had to replace the shaft strut which was significantly damaged by low level current. This made it brittle and creates a safety risk for us while sailing. So we had a new shaft strut build by General Propeller and are now taking the fist set of steps to make the replacement and installation of our new shaft strut. On this episode we complete the final step in the installation of our new shaft strut, shaft, shaft seal, and coupler for our sailboat. We did this installation over two days. Day 1 was doing all of the measurements needed to properly shim and align our shaft with the stern tube and the engine. The second day was the actual installation. The video is short but there are a lot of captions explaining the key elements of the installation and also providing some key suggestions to help you make your project a smooth one if you are doing a similar project. Lembrando que, ao meu ver... o “defeito” da inox é romper sem aviso... sem mudança aparente, ou desgaste. Fora isto.. bem mais resistente ao trabalho e atrito com corais ou pedras. Our passion is Sailing and the Sea, we bought Royal Atenea with the intention to start cruising around the world after spending all our lives working hard at sea. After we bought this beauty we found that it needed some love and care as it was abandoned by the previous owners so we are taking our time to bring her back to life. Eventually around the world trip will commence when the boat is fully upgraded for crossing the oceans and other continents. We are also working on the Electric Conversion of the first Jongert. About the Boat ''SY ROYAL ATENEA'' was built in Holland in 1973. Her original name was ''Antares''.She is a Jongert Trewes Design with 5mm Steel Hull and rigged as a Ketch with Aluminium Masts. Her LOA is 19.3m and she has a beam of 4.6m with a draft of 2.98m She weighs 33t and she can cruise at 7 kts with the engine and 8-10 kts on sail depending on the wind. She is fairly comfortable with 15 to 20 kts of wind. Freshwater capacity to last over 2 weeks and a fuel range of 13 days steaming. About the Boat ''SY Red Current'' is a Southerly 31 with the construction of GRP and rigged as a sloop with Aluminium Mast. Her LOA is 31 feet and she has a beam of 10 feet with a draft of 7 feet. She also has an electric swing keel which makes her draft very shallow and easy to enter in shallow water.
