I Love Poland (POL), skippered by Grzegorz Baranowski crossed the finish line of the 2020 Rolex Middle Sea Race at the Royal Malta Yacht Club to take Monohull Line Honours at 11:58:05 CEST on Wednesday 21st October in an elapsed time of 3 days, 23 hours 58 minutes 5 seconds. Skipper Grzegorz Baranowski describes the feeling as 'perfect', after taking monohull line honours in the 41st edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race. "Perfect crew work. Perfect navigation. A bit of luck; and then we won. So we are happy. Of course, it was a really tough race from beginning up to the end. Racing got away in marginal foiling conditions for the opening contest before the wind shut down creating a displacement finish with the time limit in play. Continuing to empty and clean the truck and trailer, electrical work on multiple fronts, Christmas, a ginger bread house, flying the spinnaker, getting the Canadian boat registration, and going up the mast....this is one packed episode this week! Getting the truck and trailer ready to sell is a huge hurdle for us to be able to even think about leaving New Bern. So that is a huge priority for us. But also, we couldn't technically leave without our Boat registration from the Government of Canada, which means we get to reveal the new name we chose for our sailboat. It was such a relief to get that box checked. Going up the mast for the first time was also a box that we were happy to check off...Matt made it down without dying! Sabre 855 "Some Girl" was built in 1980 in wood to win the Australian Sabre Sailing Championships of 1980-81 at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron. 42 Years later "Some Girl" was discovered in a poor state.
