We have a really old Laser (ILCA) that was gifted to us. Been outdoors for 20 plus years so its hull was not great, but Ronstan Gelcoat Restorer is doing a number on it. In this video we show the condition of the bulkheads on a Seaway 25 after 44 years and the dangers of not checking them. This Seaway like many over the years had its Port bulkhead which was a 1/2 bulkhead that connected to the centreboard case to support it, removed to allow easier access internally. We are refitting it as it was designed and built in 1980. All the woodwork is done by Frechevile Heeney Boatbuilders in Paynesville Victoria. #seaway25 #woodwork #boatbuilding

The Seaway 25 is one of the most iconic small trailable racing yachts in Australia with over 70 produced over the years. Designed by the late great Doug Peterson to a design brief provided by World Half Ton Champion and Seaway builder Tom Stephenson it was a competitive boat in IOR , JOG, Trailable Racing and Club Racing. It had four versions over the years. Mark 1 - Original design with lift keel and cassette rudder Mark 2 - Two cabin windows instead of one. Elite - Bigger Cabin top, new cockpit, mid hull window, transom hung rudder 787 - Bigger cabin still - more cruising oriented. Built in Qld There were also fixed keel versions of all the models in limited quantities. Sabre 855 "Some Girl" was built in 1980 in wood to win the Australian Sabre Sailing Championships of 1980-81 at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron. 42 Years later "Some Girl" was discovered in a poor state. She was subsequently acquired, rebuilt and racing again.
