In this presentation, we document the Stage one renovation of Quarter Wave a Doug Peterson design Seaway 25. It covers in images and audio how we found the boat after it had been sitting for some years during the pandemic in a yard and what we did to get her sailing again. The Seaway 25 is one of the most iconic small trailable racing yachts in Australia with over 70 produced over the years. Designed by the late great Doug Peterson to a design brief provided by World Half Ton Champion and Seaway builder Tom Stephenson it was a competitive boat in IOR , JOG, Trailable Racing and Club Racing. It had four versions over the years. Mark 1 - Original design with lift keel and cassette rudder Mark 2 - Two cabin windows instead of one. Elite - Bigger Cabin top, new cockpit, mid hull window, transom hung rudder 787 - Bigger cabin still - more cruising oriented. Built in Qld There were also fixed keel versions of all the models in limited quantities. Sabre 855 "Some Girl" was built in 1980 in wood to win the Australian Sabre Sailing Championships of 1980-81 at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron. 42 Years later "Some Girl" was discovered in a poor state. She was subsequently acquired, rebuilt and racing again. The 2015 World O'Pen Bic Cup was held at Safety Beach Sailing Club from the 27th of December till the 3rd of January. The regatta consisted of every type of wind strength possible, with the sailors experiencing days of 2 knots and 30+ knots throughout the week. It was a great event had by all! This year's Sailing World Cup Melbourne was moved to St Kilda's Sailing Precinct on Port Phillip Bay. The event had a variety of conditions, consisting of no wind on some days, to a 40 knot squall on another. However most days the venue provided athletes with champagne sailing conditions. Over 180 competitors took to the water throughout the week, this is a glimpse of the regatta. Enjoy.
