BVIs here we come! After an over night sail from St Martin (we stayed at the French side) we are arriving to the BVIs to explore this charter paradise and meet up with friends from last season! We also share the story of our broken dinghy. The dinghy that we bought new just before we left, and that is just starting to fall apart at the seams - literally. So here we are, arriving to the BVIs with a broken dinghy that's just a big lump on the deck. That was doomed dead by an experienced repairer and that neither insurance company or manufacturer what's to consider their problem. To mix it up we throw in a live update from the Bahamas, to tell you what has happened since. I know there will probably be a few questions about this so here are some ground facts: * The dinghy was bought new in 2022 just weeks before we left * When it broke, it had spent 6 months in the tropics * The PVC is still in perfect shape - e.i. not sticky from breaking down * The brand is Great White of Sweden * They claim that their glue does not work in the tropics (even though they have no restrictions for use stated in their website or manual) * Many cruisers have PVC dinghies, we haven't seen anyone else's behaving like this * The dinghy continues to break at the seams here and there * We are glad we bought more glue! Hope you find it interesting to follow along on the not so good days as well! This was mentally really draining as our dinghy is our means of transportation while we are at anchor (e.i. always), and having it broken made us feel like we had broken a leg or something.
