This week we went sailing with some friends. It was just what the doctor ordered. They have an impeccable, charming Morgan 41...a well-designed, cross-purpose boat. It looks classic, has the heart of a racer and the sturdiness of a cruiser. Take a quick peek inside! We feasted on roti and homemade bread. We sang, we played games, and Catamaran Cocktails recreated a Nigerian drink called "The Chapman"...a non-alcoholic (well, almost) mix that Micheil recalls from his childhood. It's ALMOST non-alcoholic, because it has Angostura bitters, which yes- does contain alcohol, but it's so diluted in the drink that it wouldn't much matter, its really only for flavor. Angostura Aromatic Bitters comes from Trinidad and Tobago and is made with extracts of grasses, roots, leaves and fruits. It is great for balancing drinks but it also works in cooking and can facilitate digestion and much more. We're on the move again on our journey down Mexico's Pacific Coast. This episode sees the Captain unceremoniously unplug the wifi, and the crew depart on a LOOOONG two night passage to the next state, Oaxaca! We did intend to go to the famous surfing town, Puerto Escondido... but something about its reputation hinted to Bohemia's weary crew that it may not make the best anchorage... so we carried on instead to the alternative hip town of Mazunte! We had a lot of fun on this passage despite the weak winds... even taking a pitstop to swim in the open ocean! Ansa 42 is a 41′ 6″ monohull sailboat designed by Ocke Mannerfelt and built-in Sweden by Rex Marin / Ansa Sailing AB (SWE) starting in 1979. Hull type Fin w/spade rudder. The boat has been just surveyed, you will notice all the surveyor´s comments close to each item. She is available for viewing in Port Ginesta, Barcelona. In 2020 the boat had a preventative osmosis treatment. Works included sand and strip off old antifouling, epoxy paste, and epoxy paint, and finally Antifouling. This is a yacht built for fast passage making. She had a new engine recently and is about to be lifted out for a couple of new seacocks to be installed at the owner's request. We "sailed" out to the fuel dock with the intent that after fueling we would decide whether or not we wanted to sail to Catalina Island. After taking on diesel, we decided it was too late to sail all the way to the island and get there late, so we opted to sail to the anchorage about 10 minutes away. O Inaê Soto Amstel Ultra prevê bons ventos em Ilhabela (SP) para a disputa da primeira etapa da Copa Mitsubishi, que começa neste sábado (12) e domingo (13) e terá sequência nos dias 19 e 20 de março. A competição de vela oceânica será a segunda da equipe a bordo do barco Soto 40, um dos mais vitoriosos do país. A estreia ocorreu na última semana, na Copa IC Santos - Regata Volta Ilha das Cabras, no Guarujá (SP), quando a tripulação realizou o batismo do veleiro. Em um aquecimento para a temporada, a equipe ficou em terceiro lugar na classe ORC, fazendo percurso de 20 milhas náuticas em pouco mais de três horas. O também S40 Phytoervas 4Z conquistou o título. A Copa Mitsubishi, organizada pelo Yacht Club de Ilhabela (YCI) com patrocínio da Mitsubishi Motors, terá na disputa três veleiros de competição do tipo S40. Além do Inaê Soto Amstel Ultra, as equipes Phytoervas 4Z e King contarão com o mesmo modelo de barco e prometem travar uma disputa emocionante nas águas de Ilhabela.
