Visiting the most famous dive sites in the Red Sea. Thistlegorm, Rosalie Moller, Salem Express, Ras Mohammed and Tran Strait!!!
This week, we begin fitting the Vetus hatch frames that will eventually become the windows and emergency exits for our 44-foot performance cruising catamaran. Although the hatches themselves won't be permanently installed until we're much closer to launch, now is the time to make sure every frame fits perfectly. Taking the time to get the alignment right today will help ensure a clean look, proper gasket compression, and a watertight seal for years to come. We also complete another major milestone on our hybrid propulsion system by running one of the main cable bundles across the boat, connecting the electrical panel to the equipment on the opposite hull. It's one more behind-the-scenes project that brings us another step closer to powering up the boat. To wrap up the week, we take a short break from the build to join our friends Ryan and Sophie aboard their beautiful home-built wooden Rhode Runner for an afternoon cruise around Annapolis. After months of building, it was a welcome reminder of why we're putting so much care into every detail of our own boat. ⛵ Follow along as we continue building our dream catamaran from the ground up! --- ⚓ Vetus Marine https://vetus.com/usa/ 🌎 Odyssey Sailing Festival – Sail Greece with Us! https://www.theoceancruisers.com/odyssey ⚓ Follow Our Build Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/mjsailing Website: https://www.mjsailing.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mattandjessicasailing Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mjsailing 🎵 Music licensed through Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com #BoatBuilding #Catamaran #Sailing #DIYBoat #Vetus #HybridBoat #MJsailing
Innovation, Evolution and respect for the Environment: the ARCADIA 115' is equipped with solar panels that generate some of the on-board electricity, and a wastewater treatment system. With its NPL semiplaning hull and diesel-electric hybrid engine resulting in a fuel consumption of just 140 liters per hour at a cruising speed of around 15 knots, this is one of the most economical yachts of its generation. People often see the beautiful beaches, sunsets, and tropical anchorages... but this is the side of cruising life nobody talks about. What started as a simple solar panel upgrade quickly turned into the worst week we've had in a long time. ⚠️ Kai falls and splits his forehead open ⚠️ Everyone gets sick ⚠️ Alex crushes her finger ⚠️ Our watermaker suddenly stops working ⚠️ Rain gets into the inverter and the beeping won't stop ⚠️ A violent squall hits the anchorage ⚠️ Our solar panel gets ripped off and thrown into the ocean Living on a sailboat full-time means dealing with the unexpected, and sometimes everything seems to go wrong at once. Join us as we try to keep the boat together, keep the family safe, and push through one of the toughest weeks we've faced while cruising the Caribbean. ⛵ Follow our family's sailing adventure as we chase endless summer on a budget with our kids Coral and Kai. 👍 Like, Subscribe & Join the Adventure! #sailing #boatlife #cruisinglife #liveaboard #sailboatlife #familysailing #stormdamage #anchorlife #offgridliving #watermaker #solarpower #caribbeansailing #wildlyintrepid #sailingadventure #lifeatsea #boatprojects #cruisingwithkids #liveaboardlife #squall #sailingfamily 🤍 SUPPORT THE CHANNEL If you’d like to help keep these videos coming: 👉 Patreon (monthly support) https://www.patreon.com/WildlyIntrepid 👉 One-time contribution (PayPal) https://www.paypal.me/wildlyintrepid 👉 Grab some merch https://teespring.com/en-GB/stores/wildly-intrepid 👉 Amazon Wish List (gear we need) https://www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls/2GTH6AGVPH4LP?ref_=wl_share 🔔 JOIN THE INTREPID TRIBE Subscribe and follow along: https://www.youtube.com/c/WildlyIntrepid?sub_confirmation=1 📲 FOLLOW OUR ADVENTURES Facebook → https://www.facebook.com/wildlyintrepid/ Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/wildlyintrepid/ 🛠️ GEAR & DISCOUNTS (Affiliate Links) Using these links supports us at no extra cost to you 🙌 ⚓ Defender Marine https://defender.pxf.io/xL9D9v 🔋 SOK Batteries https://www.us.sokbattery.com/?ref=zS7whJNCsEGFPu ❄️ BougeRV (32% OFF) Code: Wildly https://bit.ly/3ZYruez 🔋 UNOWIX Batteries (10% OFF) Code: UNOWIX10 https://unowix.com/unowix-defender-x100.html#aff22 Amazon (USA): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B5Q84XQW?ref=myi_title_dp 🏴☠️ Vagabond Heart (stickers & patches) https://vagabondheart.co?sca_ref=2994343.Oj9OO9JP2Z 📚 BOOKS BY US "Hikes of Western Newfoundland" → https://amzn.to/33NphoR "Hikes of Newfoundland" → https://amzn.to/39WtjPR 🎶 Music: Epidemic Sound
Crossing the Kiel Canal by sailboat is a must-do passage for any sailor in Northern Europe. In this episode we set sail from Denmark in thick white fog and make our way to Kiel, Germany. After entering the Kiel Canal, we experience one of the most unique passages of our journey so far: the locking process and crossing the canal...under beautiful autumn sunshine. The most thrilling moment? Locking in at Brunsbüttel alone, in the dark fog. With zero visibility, it became one of the most surreal and unforgettable experiences in our sailing life! The Kiel Canal crossing is the shortcut between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, and for us it was a really a highlight of cruising in Northern Europe. If you’re planning a passage through the Kiel Canal, we hope this episode gives you a taste of the experience. 🌊 If you enjoy the journey, don’t forget to subscribe and consider joining our Patreon crew for behind-the-scenes content and exclusive updates!
