Valentin und Lennart haben kurz nach ihrem Abi ein eigenes Segelboot gekauft (eine betagte IW-31) und haben sich damit auf den Weg in die Karibik gemacht. Seit Sommer 2018 genießen sie das Blauwassersegeln und erleben so einige unvergessliche Abenteuer auf eigene Faust. Wir haben uns mit ihnen über Telefon unterhalten und sind von einem Thema ins nächste gekommen. Unter Anderem erzählen sie uns von ihrer Art zu Reisen und welche Vorteile das Segeln mit sich bringt und wie sie sich diese Reise überhaupt leisten können und sie finanzieren. Mittlerweile bereiten sie sich auf ihre zweite Atlantiküberquerung vor, denn es geht wieder zurück Richtung Europa. Benannt wurde der Punkt nach Captain Nemo, einer Figur aus Jules Vernes „20 000 Meilen unter dem Meer“. Von den Gambier-Inseln liegt der Point Nemo nochmals 2.000 km Richtung Süden. 2.000 km sind 1.080 nM. Bei einem Etmal von 125 nM könnten wir Point Nemo in 8 ½ Tagen erreichen. Aber keine Sorge uns zieht es auf der Barfußroute weiter gen Westen. Unsere nächste anstehende Etappe bringt uns zurück nach Tahiti. Plötzlich beschleunigte sich mein Leben erheblich, ich verkaufte mein Haus, löste den Hausrat auf und begann Berge an Schiffsausrüstung anzuschaffen. „Leinen los!“ war für Anfang März 2021geplant – und so kam es auch, trotz Corona. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich.
