It has been a hot minute since we last posted a video, we have missed you all! We've been busy making that money to keep funding the refit, and it has been an absolute wild ride into 2026! In this episode we step back into time...August of 2025 to be exact! We have just completed the ENTIRE CHAINPLATE INSTALL & are now beginning to put our interior back together! This of course means, trimming our teak to fit the new size (ever so slight) larger chainplates...and all that goes with it. All the teak that had spent years getting damp from leaks had to be stripped and refinished. In this video we take a mini tour around Barbados in 2026, exploring some of the island’s most interesting boating spots — both on and off the water. We start at the beautiful Port St Charles marina, where luxury yachts sit in crystal-clear turquoise water and beachfront homes have their boats moored right outside. With the Caribbean sea sitting at a warm 28°C, it’s not a bad place to begin the day. 🇧🇧🌊 From there we hop into our rather unusual “press car” and head across the island, stopping along the rugged Atlantic coast to take in some dramatic scenery — including the famous mushroom-shaped rock formation and stunning coastal views that feel very different from the calm west coast beaches. One of the most interesting stops is a small local boatyard, packed with character and filled with all sorts of boats in various stages of repair. From narrow skiffs and old MasterCrafts to simple fishing boats with Yamaha outboards, it’s a fascinating glimpse into the practical side of Caribbean boating. Finally, we head out onto the water aboard a catamaran sailing from Bridgetown, cruising along the west coast with beautiful beaches, calm seas and views of famous spots like Sandy Lane. Jean’s had lots of boat adventures over the last 20 years. She, her husband and daughter spend two weeks every summer on their beloved Sharpie in the San Juan and Gulf Islands. She’s also sailed in Baja, the Bahamas, and the Philippines, mostly on small boats held together with hope and duct tape. Jean has worked as a marina manager and lived on a variety of boats, including a 90-foot converted fishing tender (shag carpet and all), a 60-foot sailboat and a tiny 160 square foot houseboat. Jean and her husband were married on their little tugboat back in 2006. For her next adventure, Jean is planning to solo the WA360 in a small sailing and rowing boat, just to see if she can do it.
