Hier soir, nous sommes partis en annexe pour aller admirer le feu d'artifice de Cannes depuis la mer. L’ambiance était magique : les lumières colorées se reflétaient sur l’eau calme, et le spectacle prenait une toute autre dimension vue depuis le large. Après ce moment féerique, nous avons repris la navigation à bord de notre catamaran. Et là, surprise incroyable : au lever du jour, nous avons aperçu notre toute première baleine ! Elle est apparue à quelques dizaines de mètres du bateau, majestueuse et paisible. Un instant suspendu, gravé à jamais dans nos mémoires.

Nous quittons La Corogne avec une seule fenêtre météo possible : passer juste derrière une dépression, avec 5 mètres de houle et un coup de vent annoncé le lendemain. Pas vraiment le choix… on doit boucler le convoyage et rejoindre les Sables d’Olonne. Quelques heures après le départ, un grain nous surprend : 29 nœuds. On réduit, on enroule, on tient bon. Heureusement, le gros coup de vent annoncé dans la nuit fera finalement « seulement » 26–27 nœuds, sans rafales. Le Golfe de Gascogne est vide, personne à l’horizon durant toute la traversée. Dernière nuit : en plein quart, je découvre le mystérieux plateau de Rochebonne et ses dizaines d’épaves sur la carte… ambiance mystique au milieu de l’Atlantique. Et puis enfin : le chenal des Sables d’Olonne, on vit la même image que les skippers du Vendée Globe ! On boucle un périple de 1840 milles nautiques et, symboliquement, la fin de notre formation à la navigation. On se sent prêts. Out spearfishing with the boys, and somehow in the chaos of fish and fins, they left Alexandra floating out there on her own. My heart stopped when I realized, but lucky I’d never taken my eyes off her from the helm. Watching her tiny head bob in the swell was the most terrifying sight, a sharp reminder that out here, the ocean doesn’t forgive mistakes. Der ATM in den Gambier-Inseln soll öfter mal nicht bestückt zu sein. Am Sonntag gehen wir erneut zum Gottesdienst. Uns begeistert vor allem der Gesang und die Zwanglosigkeit der Gemeinde. Wie in anderen Ländern bleiben jedoch viele Bänke leer. Nach einer Stunde verlassen wir allerdings den Gottesdienst – das dauert uns einfach zu lang. Stunden später kommen wir noch einmal an der Kirche vorbei. Es findet gerade ein Jugendgottesdienst statt. Das Engagement der Gemeinde sowie des örtlichen Pfarrers ist enorm. Unser Interesse gilt vor allem den Magasin - den Supermärkten. Die beste Auswahl hat JoJo`s und wir stocken unsere Bestände kräftig auf. Ab 10.000 XPF wird kostenlos ans Boot geliefert. Kein Problem für uns, denn die Preise sind so absurd, dass wir ungewollt in ganz anderen Größenordnungen unterwegs sind. Das Versorgungsschiff Nukuhau legt lang ersehnt in Otepa an. Emsig werden alle möglichen Versorgungsgüter entladen. Container, Baumaterialien, Treibstoff und, was uns besonders interessiert, Lebensmittel. Plötzlich sind die Gänge im JoJo`s vollgestopft mit gerade eingetroffenen Lebensmitteln. Frische Dinge, wie Früchte und Gemüse, gibt es allerdings weiterhin nicht. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich.
