It was custom molded for Bob by Yacht Constructors in Portland Oregon back in 1978. Four years and lots and lots of man hours later Bob splashed her. "Bettie" has a raised freeboard that allows for a flush deck design. Bettie continues to cruise with her new owners, a young couple currently exploring the pacific. La capacità cognitiva nel tursiope (Tursiops truncatus, Montagu 1821): uno studio sull'auto-riconoscimento I delfini sono mammiferi marini molto intelligenti, socialmente paragonabili ai primati per la capacità di memoria, per la comprensione del linguaggio verbale e gestuale e di altre capacità cognitive. Questo suggerisce che abbiano la possibilità di effettuare una propria identificazione al momento in cui vengono posti nella condizione di vedere se stessi riflessi da uno specchio o in visione registrata. Lo scopo di questa ricerca preliminare è stato studiare il comportamento individuale di delfini in ambiente confinato e cogliere gli elementi legati al comportamento sociale od a quelli di auto-riconoscimento. I delfini di questo video sono: Candy e Achille. Candy è una femmina adulta che, nel video, ha il primo approccio con lo schermo. Achille invece è una maschio giovane di 4 anni. Entrambi vedono la propria immagine, in tempo reale, proiettata su uno schermo. Lo ha affermato autorevolmente il ministro per l'Ambiente Stefania Prestigiacomo, forse è la volta buona, magari la determinazione femminile riuscirà a fare il miracolo. Intanto il primo cittadino di Augusta lamenta che "non siamo stati invitati alla riunione che si è tenuta martedi presso il ministero. Forse si è trattato di una dimenticanza, spero che per i prossimi tavoli saremo coinvolti, visto che larea da bonificare è di nostra competenza territoriale". Le perplessità degli operatori portuali per eventuali disagi alla operatività del porto e quella di Legambiente sul metodo. Infatti rimangono sul tavolo parecchie incognite, per esempio il metodo migliore da utilizzare per la bonifica, oppure le modalità di intervento, per finire alla questione dei finanziamenti necessari che pare ammontarebbero ad alcuni miliardi di euro da reperire. Si tratta infatti della più vasta operazione mai tentata per estensione e per complessità.
