We are getting very close to "finishing" the cabin...at least to the point where we can use it for weekend getaways, or longer! On this trip (1/17/15), we took the recommendations of two subscribers and installed a heat shield behind the wood stove. We also trimmed out the cabin's 4 windows, and built a "shooting table," which for now, we will use for a makeshift kitchen table.

The island of Makogai in Fiji was well known as a leper colony. Today it is a beautiful place to visit by yacht which is exactly what we did. This video is a fun clip for those who read our blog, for family and friends ... the Chiefs son took us out in his boat to some amazing coral columns outside of the marine reserve to shoot fish. I shot fish with my camera ... others shot fish for food as this is what the local villagers eat mostly ... not quite the sunny day we hoped for but still a load of fun!

When we first visited the Wayag Islands, part of the Raja Ampat area in east Indonesia, we were on a fast track and could spend only 1 afternoon exploring this incredibly beautiful area. We swore we would come back. This time we spent a week. We anchored in a small bay surrounded by magnificent views of karst islets, mini white sand beach, and clear blue and green water. We joined with our friends, Jan, Laura, and Oscar the dog, to make a dinghy exploration of the dramatic karst rock formations and the waterways and channels between. With each new turn around a corner a new breathtaking view was revealed. The tall imposing cliffs change their moods with the changing light of the day. On the western edge of Wayag, we did 2 dives, first trying to go to Pelagic Rock only to find a swirling, boiling mass of current! At 2 Hump and Figure 8 Islets, just a little further in toward the lagoon, we saw some beautiful U/W scenery, of colorful fish and magnificent soft corals. One of the best highlights was climbing up one of the steep sided rock mountains to find a fantastic panoramic view of the whole western side of Wayag. We could see Laura’s sailboat far below, and all the incredible colors of water, vegetation, rocks, and beaches. Whew! Looking down from up there, we could see the perfect place to snorkel a colorful reef. Immersing ourselves, we caught a glimpse of some Humphead Parrot fish cruising off into the blue. A rare and beautiful find was a yellow spotted flatworm, a creature that normally crawls like a slug across the bottom, that was swimming with crazy undulations in the shallow water. What a video opportunity! Filmed in October 2014.

After our major refit of “Sloepmouche”, our 46ft Norman Cross Trimaran, in the Philippines in 2013-14, we took her sailing to Indonesia, for a shakedown cruise. Here she is in all her glory! You see the new exterior paint job with the name revitalized in variegated colors of aqua to dark blue, a reflection of the same colors found in our beautiful anchorage in the Wayag Islands, of Raja Ampat, Indonesia. Out sailing, you see some of our new features, like new stanchions and life lines, redesigned davits, redesigned wheelhouse outside and inside with cleaner looking navigation instrument panels and wheelhouse doors. The new hard top biminis give her a new, more modern look, and a better platform for the array of 12 solar panels. Even our new vibrant black, yellow and red Belgian flag is flying more proudly!
