Since then, the “TPR” has become the biggest sailing and festive regatta of the Pacific islands and a truly international nautical event. Open to all, monohulls of multihulls, whatever their size, the ‘TPR’ is co-organised by the Tahitian Sailing Federation, the Raiatea Regatta Association and Archipelagoes and is governed by the 2013-2015 ISAF racing rules. Providing an ideal balance between a sporting competition and a festive discovery of the islands, the TPR will take place between the islands of Raiatea, Huahine and Tahaa in 2015. This Transit 38 is the latest to be launched as is not yet quite complete. The video shows the saloon, then one of the two identical aft cabins before showing the forward cabin, galley and forward heads/shower. Finally in the starboard hull the forward and aft cabins separated by another head/shower compartment. It is a huge comfortable boat and is designed for cruising , not chartering so has lots of storage and comfortable living areas, not just bunks. A sister ship to this boat recently sailed from the east coast USA to Bahamas, Caribbean, Panama, Galapagos and on to Alaska. Mainly singlehanded. Another has just returned to the UK after several years cruising in the Mediterranean. In this video, I change the air filter, and the oil on the Volvo Penta D2-40F aboard my new sailboat Athena. I also hook up my AIS transponder from Digital Yacht (Digital Yacht AIT2000) to the chart plotter (Standard Horizon CP300i). Weather-reports said a storm was coming so the first thing I thought was to get in a posision to take advantage of that. 15 miles straight out from my hometown Haugesund, in the roaring ocean, there is an beautiful, peaceful island called Utsira. Accually it is the smallest comunity in Norway with only 200 inhabitants. Impi sailing through squalls in the Pacific ocean with the asymmetric sail. Someone recently asked me about sailing with spinnakers and asymmetric sails - I then realised that not all folks were able to view footage I had posted earlier on, due to certain countries not being able to view the content because of music copyright issues. So - I decided to include some of the original footage and added more sailing time to the original - this is one of those videos where you have to relax and get into the mood of being on-board Impi to experience what it is like when crossing oceans. You will please have to excuse the rough camera handling here, as it goes back a year or so when I was not accustomed to keeping the camera relatively steady at sea. However, we do share some aspects of asymmetric sailing at sea and include some footage toward the end of how we take the sail down with ease by use of a Tylaska T12 fitting.
