Lots of sailing in this extra long episode. A little different this week. Many requests to see more sailing. With long raw scenes of the boat under sail, there is a 'real' feel of how it is to actually be in deep water hundreds of miles off shore. From now on the adventure changes pace as I explore the more exotic places the planet has to offer. This week I get, wrong way wind, am cold and wet, have a battle with ships, sail into a storm cloud, get hit by a flogging sail, see lightning and hammerheads, get power and plotter failure and talk about the 1960's. She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for a video is filmed over a period of at least week or so. The editing of each episode is normally done over a day. There are times however when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. It was our last sail on Encore, before we fly back to France and pick up our Catamaran to finally go sailing in the thing. We left beautiful Mays Bay and head back to the mainland, to jump in a helicopter and see the places we had just sailed to from above. The Great Barrier Reef is pretty stunning. While on a work trip in Southwest Oklahoma the fan for the air conditioning in my accommodations stopped working. They say it's going to take two weeks for them to get a part and fix it but the only other rooms they have to offer are in much worse condition and lack amenities. It drips a bit form some of the portlights when it rains hard and I attempt to fix the problem by sealing the rubber edge with some Trans 7 clear. Time will show if it will work, another option is to replace the rubber edge If my attempt is a failure.
