Starting off in Stuart, we'll go through 5 locks, under the (scary) Port Macaya Railroad Lift Bridge, and across the EXTREMELY shallow Lake Okeechobee. In July 2019 she was wet rubbed, antifouled, polished and had her steering and rudder fully serviced. Dass wir die Atlantiküberquerung mit der ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) machen würden, stand für uns fest, noch bevor wir das Boot gekauft hatten. Uns gefiel die Idee, dieses riesige Abenteuer nicht alleine anzugehen und vom Schwarmwissen inmitten der vielen erfahrenen Segler bei diesem Event zu profitieren. Angekommen in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria starteten nun die letzten Vorbereitungen für dieses riesige Abenteuer. Das vielleicht Größte, das jeder von uns je getan hat: einen Ozean überqueren. Gemeinsam mit unserem verstärkenden Crewmitglied Benni packten wir also noch allerhand Bootsprojekte an, verbrachten eine schöne Zeit mit Julias Eltern, die nochmals zu Besuch kamen, um sich zu verabschieden, und streberten bei den ARC-Vorbereitungsseminaren, bis uns die Köpfe rauchten. Außerdem hatten wir allerhand voll zu tun, um mit den strengen Sicherheitsanforderungen der ARC mitzuhalten.
