In 2005 he completed a graduate degree in art at Cal Arts and has been working as a conceptual artist, carpenter, fabricator and teacher in Los Angeles for the past decade. Captain Peffer grew up sailing the East Coast and Bahamas on the David Stevens schooner Sarah Abbott (sister ship to Atlantas!) with his family. The son of a wooden boat owner he was raised in and around boatyards and developed an interest in traditional sailing craft while simultaneously racing on everything from 420’s, to Shields, to Schooners, to ocean racing ULDB’s. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

Designed by the famous and ever popular Bruce Farr, the Bavaria 40 Cruiser is a big volume, comfortable, and easy to handle cruising yacht with a large and open cockpit incorporating a huge fold down swim platform with a twin wheel steering system for easy access through to the transom. There is a large foldout cockpit table with beautifully varnished timber leaves, perfect for alfresco dining on those warm and tranquil summer nights. The dodger and bimini were replaced in 2015 and are in excellent condition and fully cover the cockpit area. Below decks, Stormtrooper boasts 3 large private double cabins, the forward owners cabin having its own ensuite with timber slatted floor and holding tank. The main saloon comprises of a large dinette capable of seating up to eight adults in comfort, and the modern in line galley is practical and functional, including a 2-burner gas stove and oven that has had very little use, a microwave oven and twin stainless steel sinks. Also in the saloon we find the dedicated forward facing nav station to starboard and opposite that, the day head comprising of an electric flush toilet again with holding tank and a separate shower stall. Woodwork is finished in light Oak to give an airy and modern space. The North Sails NORDAC 3Di in-mast furling mainsail and furling genoa were replaced new just last year 2017. The Volvo Penta D2-40 saildrive that has been regularly serviced and maintained is logging just over 500 hours. The start battery was replaced in March 2018 and the 2 x 140-amp hour house batteries were replaced in 2016. There is also a separate battery for the Sidepower bow Thruster.
