In Luang Prabang werden von 6 bis 12 Uhr an jedem Morgen frische Waren aus der Region verkauft. Es wurde uns empfohlen in jedem Fall vor 11Uhr dort zu erscheinen um die volle Bandbreite der angebotenen Waren zu sehen. Somit waren wir schon gegen 8Uhr auf dem Morning Market, der sich in etwa auf Höhe des Nachtmarktes in den Gassen Richtung Mekong befand. Mit der Kamera bewaffnet wollten wir unbedingt unsere Eindrücke festhalten, was mitunter nicht so einfach war, da wir an manchen Ständen aufgrund des Gestankes einfach weitergehen wollten. Als wir die Hälfte des Marktes gesehen hatten, legten wir eine kurze Pause ein um unserer Nase ein kleines Verschnaufen zu ermöglichen. Dann ging es weiter ... SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners. St. Helena, a Nordhavn 35, is hull 19 out of 23. The owners are a retired couple from Colorado who have enjoyed over a dozen summers exploring the Pacific Northwest aboard her. They took delivery in California, and after a year in the waters of Baja California, headed north for the Pacific Northwest. They have done a remarkable job of looking after the boat; there are maintenance spreadsheets and a summary of upgrades as each year they made sure she was ready for their return the following season. These sellers have treated St. Helena graciously, living by the philosophy that, “When you take care of your trawler, your trawler takes care of you”. The Nordhavn 35 was a limited production model that has aged remarkably well and is truly an irreplaceable vintage since the tooling was destroyed many years ago. There is really nothing around under 40’ that is as practical and elegant, especially for two people. There are similar types of sporty trawlers; like the American Tug, Nordic Tug, Grand Banks 36 and Selene 36/38/40 – but none of these models can challenge the overall package the Nordhavn 35 offers. Superbly engineered and beautifully crafted in Taiwan, the Nordhavn 35 has a commanding presence. First thing you will notice is her striking good looks, sharing a family resemblance to her larger ocean crossing sisters. Diese Werft war bekannt für ihre hervorragenden und seetüchtigen Schiffe. Sie segelte zunächst als Frachter in der Nord- und Ostsee. Anschließend wurde sie 1923 nach Schweden verkauft und fuhr 50 Jahre lang als Küstenfrachter und als Fischereischiff unter schwedischer Flagge. In diesem Zeitabschnitt wurde sie erstmals motorisiert. 1973 ging sie an eine britisch-australische Gesellschaft und wurde wieder zum Segelschiff mit einer Brigg-Takelung umgebaut. Als „Eye of the Wind umsegelte sie zweimal die ganze Welt und wurde in mehreren Kinofilmen, z. B. „Blue Lagoon", „Savage Island", „Taipan" und 1992 in „White Squall" als Kulisse eingesetzt. Diese Einsätze machten sie auf der ganzen Welt bekannt und als hervorragenden und einen der schönsten Großsegler berühmt. In dieser Zeit hatte sie auch ihren Einsatz als Trainingsschiff für Jugendliche. Im Jahr 2000 wurde sie an einen dänischen Eigner verkauft, der sie komplett restaurierte und mit modernster Ausrüstung sowie einer starken Maschine versah. Damit erfüllt sie heute alle modernen Sicherheitsstandards sowie Anforderungen an Komfort und Bequemlichkeit. Die Restauration erfolgte so gefühlvoll, dass sie dabei ihren Charakter als Original-Großsegler behielt. Die Decks und das Schanzkleid sind aus Teak, überall wurden edle und originale Hölzer verbaut und gesegelt wird komplett im Handbetrieb. 6 Passagierkabinen mit 12 Kojen machen sie zum idealen Schiff für individuelle Führungskräfte Trainings, aber auch für die Vercharterung an größere Gruppen.
