Designed by Bruce Farr, the Beneteau First 44.7 is an award-winning cruiser / racer that will delight whether racing to Hobart or cruising the Whitsundays. Magic is a 3-cabin version with a head to service two aft double state rooms and separate ensuite for the forward owner’s cabin. The L-Shaped galley has a 12v top opening fridge along with a two-burner gas stove and oven and twin basin stainless steel sink and there is a large, very comfortable “U” shaped dinette. She has been very well set up to cruise with a North Sails fully battened Dacron Main with boom bag and lazy jacks and a North Sails Genoa on a Profurl Furler. There is a large Bimini Cover and Dodger – with infill – for protection from the weather and she has a full suite of Raymarine instruments, including Auto Pilot. Her standing rigging was replaced in 2019 and her engine serviced in April this year.

Ohren betäubend laut schlägt ein Blitz in MariaNoa ein. Es stinkt verbrannt. Das 12V-Paneel blinkt chaotisch, das Victron- und das Scheibner-Paneel sind schwarz. Wir haben Schaden in der Elektronik. Welchen Schaden? Keine Ahnung. Wir checken zuerst die Bilgen. Wir scheinen aber keinen Wassereinbruch zu haben. Worst case ist, wenn der Blitz durchschlägt und ein Loch in den Rumpf unterhalb der Wasserlinie schlägt. Die Motoren können nicht gestartet werden, kein Licht in den Räumen. Das Windex liegt in Bruchstücken auf dem Deck verstreut, wir sind also direkt getroffen worden. Wenn ich doch nur mehr Ahnung von Elektronik hätte und wenigstens die Motoren zum Laufen bringen könnte. Mit dem Funkgerät, das eigentlich heile wirkt, können wir niemanden erreichen. Später finden wir auch die VHF-Antenne pulverisiert an Deck. Wir bauen eine Plane über die Motorräume um irgendwie in ihnen arbeiten zu können. Im Frühjahr 2020 erhielt ich die Diagnose Morbus Parkinson. Plötzlich beschleunigte sich mein Leben erheblich, ich verkaufte mein Haus, löste den Hausrat auf und begann Berge an Schiffsausrüstung anzuschaffen. „Leinen los!“ war für Anfang März 2021geplant – und so kam es auch, trotz Corona. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. Plan International ist ein internationales Kinderhilfswerk. Auf unserer Reise wollen wir nicht nur in Traumbuchten chillen sondern Programmländer von Plan besuchen und die dortige Arbeit dokumentieren.
