We’re Running Out of Diesel… And There’s None on the Island

We’re anchored off Koh Phangan, Thailand, but before we can continue our trip we have a problem—we’re getting pretty low on diesel. There are no traditional fuel docks on the island, so we head ashore and visit a few marinas hoping to find someone who can help us fill up. After striking out everywhere we try, we eventually give up on the fuel search and head back to the boat. From there, things get a whole lot better. We raise anchor in Haad Rin, home of Koh Phangan’s famous Full Moon Party, and set sail for another bay just up the coast. What follows is an absolutely beautiful sail and an incredible new anchorage. Sometimes cruising doesn’t go according to plan—but being stuck somewhere like Koh Phangan isn’t exactly the worst problem to have!
