We Didn't Expect K'gari to Be Like This
K'gari is the largest sand island in the world, but that description only tells part of the story. We spent a day travelling across the island, from the beaches of the east coast to the forested interior, freshwater creeks and Lake McKenzie. Along the way we visited the Maheno shipwreck, walked along Eli Creek, watched dingoes moving along the beach, explored the forest at Central Station, and stopped at Wanggoolba Creek, where the water was so clear it was almost difficult to see. What stayed with us most was the variety of the island. Sand is everywhere, but so are forest, freshwater, wildlife, history and places that still feel remarkably wild. This video follows that day and the things that made us look at K'gari very differently by the time we left. As always, thank you for watching and for travelling with us.
