The Expertise, Ep. 4 - Creating a Vessel Stewardship Plan

104 Tampilan· 28/04/23

So you have a boat - how do you take care of it, and ensure it sails for generations to come? Join Barb Trailer, Director of Wooden Boat Festival, as she interviews Andy Stewart and Zach Simonson-Bond as they discuss how to create a Vessel Stewardship Plan to manage competing interests of ownership. Andy Stewart is a shipwright and the owner of Emerald Marine in Anacortes, WA. He has more than 35 years of experience building, repairing, and caring for wooden vessels. He is a licensed captain and sails Windsong a locally built Winslow-designed yawl. Zach Simonson-Bond, NAMS-associate, is the owner and lead surveyor at Kingspoke Marine Surveying. He is a graduate of the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding, cut his teeth on the schooner Adventuress, and holds his 100-ton Inland Master's license. The Expertise is a series created by Northwest Maritime Center as a part of its Wooden Boat Festival programming. NWMC's Wooden Boat Festival is the second largest wooden boat festival in the world, and takes place annually in Port Townsend, WA. It is made possible, in part, by support from First Fed Bank.
