Living true boat life, we’re forced to depart in less-than-ideal conditions, carefully timing our approach to the infamous Knysna Heads. Known as one of the world’s most dangerous harbor entrances, a single mistake here could be catastrophic. With the powerful Agulhas Current pushing hard beneath us and heavy seas building, this final leg of our circumnavigation tests everything we’ve learned along the way. As conditions worsen, Shannon and Davis battle relentless seasickness, pushing through exhaustion while the pressure mounts. Every wave brings us closer to either safe refuge—or serious danger. Will our sailing family make it safely into the Knysna Lagoon, or will the ocean decide our fate? ⛵ Subscribe and join us for real-world sailing, boat life, and circumnavigation as we chase horizons and take on the toughest waters yet. We are a suburban blended family that has raised our 3 older children and now want to travel the world. After planning and saving for the past 6 years, we are now embracing our dream of sailing around the world on our Leopard 45 sailing catamaran. Follow our journey as we Circumnavigate the Globe in 3-4 years on a budget of $4,800/month (food, communication, fuel, insurance, transportation, mooring/marina & fun). We left the USA in October 2023 and plan to visit 26 countries on 5 different continents all while worldschooling a budding teen in our off grid tiny house. 🏆 Looking for boating spreadsheets, inside info or wanna help keep the dream alive?
