In a follow-up to last week's update in which we described the miserable weather here, we show you some of the damage that this unprecedented storm has caused. Many thousands of people have been flooded and displaced, whilst a fair few boats have taken a battering too. But that's just the intro to this week's episode, which is all about Project Manaia. You may be aware we support a number of Patreon projects, including the fantastic Delos, as well as some of our musical contributors too. But our favourite project is one man's quest to research and campaign for the marine environment in the Mergui group, an archipelago of around 1,500 islands on the south of Myanmar. Manuel, who has recently been joined by the lovely Pinar, is a marine biologist and Greenpeace deckhand who spends half his time aboard Sea Nomad, a research catamaran, surveying some of the difficult-to-reach islands of Murgui. The reason we are profiling him is because we think this is the most worthy Patreon project we've come across. Manuel is self-funded and has few Patreon supporters currently. We're hoping to change this. His videos are not as polished as other sailing channels, but this is because he is a biologist first, campaigner second, sailor third and video editor last. That said, he has many ideas and plans to pursue both in terms of his research and also with the videos. We hope you enjoy the interview and, if you feel this is a good cause, you may consider bunging him a couple of dollars a month for his efforts. With the rapidly declining state of the marine environment we think it's worth it. We have the utmost respect for Manuel and Project Manaia's aims. Quick note on those dailies we promised: terrible weather, no sun, lack of power and crappy internet connection have conspired against us to line these dailies up, but we promise to continue to bring you some unique and interesting episodes over the coming weeks. We continue to answer your questions too, of course, so please keep them coming. Thank you all for your fantastic support.
