Season 2 - Ep 4 - ROUGH WEATHER Sailing in the Strait of Juan De Fuca - Pacific Northwest
We departed Bedwell Harbour at 5am on Sept. 27th. The previous evening called for 10 to 20 knots in the strait, perfect sailing conditions to get us home to Port Angeles. At 3am we checked the weather again, its changed to 20 to 25 knots with gusts in the high 30's. We needed to get home for work, so we went for it. Just off Trial Islands, a mile southeast, the wind picked up to over 30 knots with cresting waves. We clipped ourselves in, reefed the main and jib and let our trusty hydrovane sail us onward.
