It's the finals day for the 18 Footers, New South Wales State Championships and our expert, Christophe Favreau, talks to the top three contenders in the Boat Park. The Royal Gelong Yacht Club held its annual "Festival of Sails" recently and it started with a "Passage Race" from Melbourne to get the fleet to the action in Gelong. DONNER BERTARELLI AND YANN GECHARD, ANNOUNCE THE END OF STANDBY, FOR THE MAXI-TRIMARAN "SAILS OF CHANGE" FOR THE JULES VERNE TROPHY AND PLAN A FRESH ATTEMPT. On November 1st, 2021, Donner Bertarelli, Yann Gechard and their team began the standby for a fourth attempt at the Jules Verne Trophy around-the-world sailing record. Since this date, there has not been a suitable weather window for the crew of the maxi-trimaran Sails of Change to set sail with a realistic chance of beating the record. Today, Donner Bertarelli and Yann Gechard announced the end of standby for Spindrift, and their plans to renew the attempt later this year. Tackers is a fun, introductory, games-based, sailing program, designed for kids aged 7-12 years-old. Kids don’t need to have any sailing experience or club membership to participate. Supervised by Australian Sailing's Instructors it is a fun based activity teaching the basics of the sport of Sailing. Enrol your team today at Australian Sailing. Tech2's team of Jack Macartney, Charlie Wyatt and Lewis Brake became the 2021-22 New South Wales 18 foot Skiff champion, when they dominated the fleet to win Race 8,the final race of the series on Sydney Harbour. After trailing the leader Noakesailing over the first two legs of the course, the Tech2 team showed its superior downwind boatspeed to grab the lead at the bottom mark on the first lap and from that point was never really in danger of defeat. At the end of the three-lap north-east course, Tech2 crossed the finish line ahead of Noakesailing (Sean Langman, Ed Powys, Josh Porebski), with Andoo (Dave Gilmour, Matt Stenta, Sam Newton) further back in third place. Yandoo (John Winning), which led the championship going into today's race, was further back in fourth place. Pip Hare, British Vendee Globe Skipper of Metallia announces her plans for 2022.
