SAILING WEST TO FIJI'S BIGGEST ISLAND: VITU LEVU

Episode 064 After spending a peaceful night off the stunningly beautiful Makogai Island, we start our journey to Vitu Levu. After sailing out of Makogai’s channel, we sail up the Broad Passage and enter the Vitu Levu’s northern reef at Nananū Passage. The sail from Makogai to Nananū-i-rai was 53 nautical miles. It was a very calm passage and we motorsailed the whole way. Once inside the reef, we faced our most challenging sail to date, not only navigating an extensive reef system but also experiencing a variety of wind conditions and directions from being becalmed to 38 knots on the nose.
