S2E39: an unexpected setback: removing a pesky rudder pintle (Dominican Republic)

I edited this video and am in the process of re-uploading it. I’ll send out a notification when it’s complete. When I learned about the older alloy of bronze used for my original rudder hardware, I decided to order all new pintles and gudgeons for the rudder. The bottom gudgeon (also known as the rudder shoe, except mine is an actual gudgeon) was completely cracked, which is what prompted me to look into this hefty expense ($2300USD plus shipping). The annoying part though, was that the last pintle was bolted underneath the rudder cheeks. The last thing I wanted to do was work on the rudder after I had checked it off as “complete” in my task list. But I took a day and got it done, and I’m one step closer to the splash.
