Rolex Big Boat Series 2010 - smaller boats but just as much competition

The Rolex Big Boat Series hosted by the St. Francis Yacht Club served up lots of competition as nine classes battled it out on San Francisco Bay. Though the size of the boats competing is smaller, there's not a bit less competition on the water. The biggest and hottest fleet sailing was the Melges 32's getting tuned up for their World Championship. Out of the seven races sailed, six boats took a first and more than two thirds placed in the top 10 at least once. The average score for Luca Lalli's B-lin team was a 5. There were a lot of familiar faces in this fleet too. Big boat sailors like John Kilroy and Steve Howe have jumped into the class and are committed to racing these fun high performance boats. They're challenging teams that have been sailing the Melges 32 for a few years and have learned the boats really well like Joe Woods and Jeff Ecklund. For all the information on the regatta you can access the Rolex Big Boat Series website at http://www.rolexbigboatseries.com/
