Replacing a Broken Shroud on our Sailboat WITHOUT a RIGGER! | Sailing Balachandra E080

6,225 vistas· 10/10/20

In this episode, Replacing a broken Shroud on our Sailboat WITHOUT a RIGGER!, our new rod has finally arrived in Grenada and we are ready to replace or broken lower port side shroud. After a couple days in Anse La Roche, Carricou, and a visit to Petite Martinique, we sail back down to Grenada to pick up our new shroud. With help from friends, we are able to go up the mast and do the replacement ourselves without hiring a rigger to do this for us. Having re-tensioned the rig so many times on our own we have a good idea of how much tension to put on our shrouds by feel alone. *NOTE: if you are new to this and don't know what you are doing, you really do need to ask a professional rigger for assistance as imporper tightenning of rod rigging can lead to serious accidents. #sailboatmaintenance #sailing channel #caribbeancruising If you like our videos and want to see more/better videos, more often you can become a patreon supporter: https://www.patreon.com/sailingbalachandra If you haven't yet SUBSCRIBED and wan to see more please click the SUBSCRIBE button above, and be sure to give this video a like! In August of 2017 we sold everything and moved aboard Balachandra, a 1986 C&C44 sailboat, then sailed it over 300 nautical miles to Halifax Nova Scotia to spend a cold Canadian winter in the frozen waters of the North Atlantic. Sailing Balachandra is our YouTube sailing vlog inspired by other great channels such as Delos and La Vagabonde, which documents the sailing adventures of myself and my partner Nawal as we navigate the globe. We also dive into lots of DIY boat projects both above and below decks, and share with you all of the pros and cons of living aboard full time. Sailing Balachandra is published weekly so please subscribe so you don't miss out on future videos!
