Pirate scare: PACIFIC NIGHTMARE | Ep 81 | Sailing Merewether

This week we continue our Pacific crossing, on a little different note, Kieran is noticeably tired and the sail has gotten to him. We head south towards Ecuador in search for the beloved trade winds but stumble across some real problems. On day 5 a squall hits, Kieran reefs the sail when I spot a vessel a couple nautical miles off to our port, and it's moving towards us... With land being 100 NM away and no other vessels around we start thinking about the worst possible scenario. Later that day, wobbling all alone again (or so we thought) in the big ocean, we get tangled. A long fishing line has wrapped around our keel and rudder, pulling Merewether back and slowing us down. Kieran has to jump in the water and untangle us. The first swim in the Pacific ocean!!
