PASSAGE MAKING TO NEW ZEALAND

#multihull #multihullsailing #sailingvideos Sailing to New Zealand can be a worry for many sailors - this is our 2nd trip there from New Caledonia and some social media folks asked me to please share a few details about our passage. We have a number of deep low and high high pressure systems around as well as convergence which brings on rain and thunderstorms, however convergence between the systems also allows us a more direct route to New Zealand which otherwise usually means sailing a semi circle that leads towards Australia before heading for New Zealand. We make use of several weather programs, our Polars set up of for the boat as well as our beautiful B&G radar with Doppler technology to see which way systems are moving.
