One Step Closer to our Cruising Dreams (Calico Skies Sailing Ep 98)

What do cruiser's do with all of their time? Quite a lot as this episode demonstrates 😉. It starts out with pizza night aboard Delos. We make the dough (from scratch of course) early in the morning and as the day goes on we work on the toppings. It's a labor of love making homemade pizza but when enjoying it with our cruising buddies Brian, Kazza & Nugget it's well worth the effort. Next we set out to explore Texas Rock a renowned dive site several miles from our anchorage. We are scuba diving this amazing, 40-50ft deep spot and encounter incredible coral and fish including giant Gray Angelfish and a variety of psychedelic coral. Though the Dry Tortugas checks many boxes it is not out of the hurricane zone and our goal is to escape the North/South seasonal run this year. That means we're leaving the US for the foreseeable future and heading first to Mexico. To prepare for the passage we sail back up to Key West to provision and get fuel. Then we enjoy the most incredible downwind Spinnaker sail on our way back down to the Dry Tortugas which will be our jump off point for Mexico. On one of our last sails in the US we enjoy idyllic conditions and if you like sailing you will love watching this passage. After most of the day we switch to the code zero as we make our way into the Dry Tortugas and around the giant fort.
