Norwegian girl sailing solo across the Atlantic day 20

Today has been a calm day. Last night I slept really well, which already makes everything feel different. Before going to bed I reefed the sails properly, enough that I felt comfortable leaving them as they were. That made a big difference mentally. I wasn’t lying there wondering if I should get up and change something, or if I had reefed enough. I could just relax and sleep. And I did. So this morning I woke up feeling refreshed and in a really good mood. The winds have been quite light today, so we’ve been sailing with full main and full Genoa out. Two sheets to the wind, heading west, and the ride has been very comfortable. The boat feels relaxed, and so do I. I used the day to go through the boat a bit. Checking equipment, seeing if anything is wearing out or needs attention. Just keeping an eye on things before they become problems. I also did a few small chores. Cleaned the fridge, packed away the trash, tidied up a bit. Nothing exciting, just normal boat life. So overall it’s been one of those quiet days. Calm weather, small jobs, steady miles west. The kind of day where you have space to think a little and just let the hours pass naturally.
