Sailing around Cape Horn has been a dream. But leaving Mary, Basil, our wooden sailboat Grebe, and the life we’ve built on Pender Island is harder than I expected. With only days until I fly to New Zealand to join @BarkEuropa, I look back at the journey that brought me here—from farming and my first sailboat, Vie Sauvage, to finding a home afloat at Port Browning. Somewhere along the way, this boat and this island became home. Now it’s time to say goodbye for two months and follow a dream across the Southern Ocean.
