Sophisticated Lady has been our only home since 2005, and every night she runs a household fridge/freezer, a second fridge, a second freezer, a 10-camera security system that runs 24/7, the editing computers, the TV and soundbar, Starlink and its modem, and LED lights in the cockpit all night. That's the same list a house needs to keep its essentials running through a power outage, which makes this about as real-world as a backup test gets. THE NUMBERS • Whole boat, A/C and everything above: 9 hours 47 minutes on one charge • Energy delivered: 6.76 kWh of 7.2 kWh, a 93.8% inverter efficiency, one of the best I've tested • Recharge from the boat: 7.89 kWh in to refill 7.2 kWh, about 91% charging efficiency • Overload: about 4,000 W for 20 seconds, then about 4,800 W (30% over its 3,600 W rating) for a full minute before its protection shut the inverter off.
