Forty miles with a meter under the keel

Unable to reach the Northwest Channel before nightfall I decide on yet one more stop, a small anchorage behind Chub Cay. I depart early the following morning and reach the Bahama Bank around 1000hrs, and from there follow the 40-mile run from the Russell Beacon to South Riding Rock. When the wind falls light I can clearly see the bottom, not more than one meter beneath the keel--yikes!
