Episode 26 - Not So Dinghy Anymore
As we wait for the construction of our Seawind 1260 to begin, we are looking ahead and beginning our evaluations of what dinghy/tender will suit our needs. In the previous episodes we discussed our requirements and concerns and evaluated dinghies from Highfield and the Aspen's Carbon Cat T11 model. In the next episode we continue the series and looked at the AST Beach 341 from Germany, the Offshore Cruising OC350 out of New Zealand, and the Ultralight Performance 340 out of Florida. In this episode, we contrasted these five dinghies and rated them on hull weight, load carrying capacity, and the controlling factor of costs. We discussed what options we want in a dinghy and whether we should build our own. If you can survive the rambling until the end, we will reveal the dinghy/tender that we chose. We share our thoughts from the perspective of a retiring couple. Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts.
