Ep 8. Taking Ibiza by STORM! (Sailing Susan Ann II)

Episode 8 When we planned our summer, Ibiza was top of our list. It’s a must visit island with stunning scenery, the coolest bohemian vibe, some of the world’s best night clubs and perfect weather…. Or so we thought! This year saw thew worst storm in Ibiza in 20 years with much of the island experiencing 40+ knot winds. We knew there was a storm on the way from the north so found the best shelter we could on the south of the island. In Cala Jondal, where we anchored, one small boat sank and about a dozen yachts dragged their anchors but on the whole we were ion the best place. Many other yachts were not so lucky. We counted over 20 May Day calls on the VHF with some seriously distressed yacht crews, it was horrible to witness. In Cala Perroig (the bay next to us) our friends watched as a car and a van floated past them heading out to sea! After the craziness of the storm we headed for Formentera which is an island south of Ibiza for a couple of days chilling, eating and drinking with our friend Sally on board.
