Ep 222 | A Notoriously Dangerous Passage, Timing is Everything, Sailing Whitsundays, Australia

We leave the unimpressive Shaw Island and have a wonderful sail to Chalkies Beach which is opposite the world famous Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays. The planning for this trip is very intense as Magnus does the maths and checks it twice to ensure that we make it through the Solway Passage safely. It’s a notoriously dangerous passage, not attempted by many, with strong tidal flows and it’s definitely not good if you get the maths wrong. It’s very narrow with reef close by. Chalkies Beach is a much better anchorage than Whitehaven Beach but on arrival we have to wait awhile to get a mooring. It’s worth the wait. Magnus figures out how he is going to install the transducer inside the boat and we get to see what is below Nutshell for the very first time. Thanks for watching and see you all next time.
