We take our Highfield dinghy on an incredible tour of the east coast of Koh Phangan, exploring some of the most beautiful parts of the island — including beaches and bays that are only accessible by boat. Koh Phangan is famous for its parties, but there’s so much more to this island. We spend the day cruising the coastline, finding secluded spots and taking in some of the best scenery we’ve seen in Thailand. That night, we head to a party… and when we wake up the next morning, we’re amazed to discover it’s STILL going at 8AM — and apparently it has no plans of stopping anytime soon! Ever have trouble getting it up? Well, yeah we did. In preparation for our move to Texas, we are checking out all essential systems. One of those being our Lofrans Falcon 1700 watt windlass and maneuvering the anchor. The anchor deployed nicely but the windlass couldn’t get it up easily. More to diagnose, more to fix and to be continued. We’ve mounted our new Garmin 8610xsv chartplotter turning our cockpit into a starship helm. Just kidding, but it will be really nice having two chartplotters for obtaining cruising and weather information. Unfortunately, at first there was a bit of an issue with the NMEA 2000 network. Not all the devices were showing up on the chartplotters. After several lengthy diagnostic sessions, Steve figured out there appeared to have a ground loop. It’s all been corrected, all devices appearing on the chartplotters and they look great. The NMEA 2000 network also got a new look. Using two Garmin NMEA 2000 4-Port T-connectors several single T-connectors were replaced. Steve attached the network backbone to a custom made wooden mounting board and secured it in place. It is a much cleaner installation and will still provide easy access for maintenance and future additions. Still working on our Salsa steps. Hopefully, we’re getting better and of course we’ll continue to dance. A big howdy and hugs to our subscribers! We truly appreciate your support. Isabella is a sailing ketch and is considered a 1990/2010 model. It has four private cabins, an engine room, salon, galley, and three heads with two separate shower stalls. The hull is fiberglass and is considered a bluewater cruiser. Isabella has an excellent capsize ratio of 1.68 and a very good comfort ratio of 42.19. She is equipped with Garmin / Raymarine electronics and has hydraulic steering. The naval architect was Michel Bigoin who also designed the largest sailboat in the world which was manufactured in 1976 and called Phocea. It was a 246 foot four masted steel schooner and was considered the largest private sailing yacht in the world until 2004. The engine room has three accesses with the primary through a hatch at the base of the pilothouse stairs. Her owner has cruised her about 12,000 miles traveling to ports far and near including St. Kitts, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas to Maryland. She is ready to take you cruising coastal waters or crossing the ocean to explore new ports of call abroad. Invictus’ off-grid capabilities are the star of the show. The solar panel arrangement and battery bank allows owners to stay on anchor in the most remote locations and enjoy modern living without constantly running the generator. The ability to eat fresh popcorn and watch a streaming movie from your recliner while running the dishwasher and clothes dryer from the batteries is what off-grid comfort living is all about. Invictus is an excellent vessel for the active owner operator couple. Her generous size offers spacious quarters for full-time on-board travel, entertaining and hosting guests. Guests will appreciate the private accommodations with separate head. Her interior layout features two staterooms: the owner accommodation is forward, with an ensuite full head. The bed is large, there are multiple lockers and drawers, and this is a quiet place to read, relax and sleep. The spacious guest room is amidships, to starboard. The guest quarter includes a L- shaped settee that converts to a bed. The room also features a desk against the bulwark, and Miele laundry appliances to wash and dry clothes that can both run off battery power without the need for the generator. The second full head with shower is a step across the companionway from the guest stateroom, conveniently located for all aboard. The engine room has a large hatch in the hallway sole with a ladder that leads to stand up head room for easier service and inspections with central access to both engines. The large, upper-level pilothouse has 360-degree visibility and is equipped with two navy STIDD helm chairs with MFD control in the Captain’s armrest and a small refrigerator. The spacious entry level saloon is wrapped in warm cherry and features two custom leather La-Z-Boy recliners, an L-shaped settee covered in Ultraleather, a bookcase, a cherry hi-lo table that opens to easily seat eight for dinner and can be moved outside for al fresco dining, an extra freezer, and copious storage.
