Zu unserem ersten Segelfilm: 180° - Auf Kurs in die Freiheit https://www.bootsprofis.tv/film Wir haben Ende 2015 ein Segelboot gekauft, das nicht wirklich segelbereit war. Und dann musste alles sehr schnell gehen, denn der kleine Max war ja auf dem Weg. Wir haben innerhalb von ein paar Monaten einen umfänglichen Refit unserer 39 Fuß Comfortina gemacht und hatten nicht mehr wirklich Zeit, sie ausgiebig im Wasser zu testen und auch mal unter extremeren Bedingungen zu segeln. So sind wir schon im August 2016 auf unsere Blau Wasser Segelreise gestartet - kurz nach der Geburt von Max, denn wir wollten ja die Elternzeit für unsere Langfahrt nutzen. Und da kam es natürlich, wie es kommen musste: Besonders am Anfang hat unser Schiff einige Macken gezeigt, viele technische Themen traten auf und wir mussten wirklich viel reparieren... Wobei wir eigentlich Zeitdruck hatten und noch vor Oktober über die Biskaya segeln wollten bzw. mussten. Der Start unserer Reise war definitiv keine einfache Zeit, denn es gab viele Herausforderungen zu meistern. Mit mehr Vorbereitungszeit hätten wir uns einige davon wohl gespart. Wir halten es für sehr wichtig, dass man sich vor dem Start seiner eigenen Reise genügend mit seinem Schiff auseinandersetzt und es richtig kennenlernt. Eben, um auf Reise tatsächlich auch reisen zu können und nicht nur am Segelboot zu basteln. Das ist eins der wichtigsten Learnings für uns gewesen. Außerdem: tritt ein technisches Problem auf See auf, möchte man natürlich sofort wissen, was es genau ist und wie man es schnell lösen kann. Kennt man sein Schiff nicht in - und auswendig, kraucht man im schlimmsten Fall bei ordentlich Seegang irgendwo im Boot umher und versucht irgendwie erstmal das Problem zu finden, bevor man es fixen kann. In dieser Folge BootsProfis erzählen wir genau von dieser spannenden Zeit damals und welche wichtigen Schlüsse wir daraus gezogen haben. We’re tired, but we’re committed, and in this video, we’re giving you a full walkthrough of where we’re at. In this episode: America’s Cup Salvage: We grabbed carbon nomex panels and massive carbon sail battens from an AC catamaran Alinghi 5 that was being demolished. Will it look cool or just warped?! Structural Stiffening: See how we used a carbon batten to fix a flexy spot on the cabin roof and prevent hard points. Interior Demolition & Reconstruction: We’ve ripped out the old liner and are rebuilding the galley, companionway steps, and a MASSIVE new pantry. Upcycled Lockers: Harry is building out his cabin with lockers from the Volvo Ocean Race boat, Trifork/Ericcson 4. Aft Cabin & Shower: The shower/toilet area is finally taking shape! Light winds allow us to set the gennaker again and again, and we never have to take it down because of strong winds. Only at night is it stowed away for safety reasons. We arrive in La Graciosa at the beautiful anchorage “Playa Francesa,” as have several other sailors who arrived before us. We find a good spot and enjoy this wonderful island, which I can show you with impressive pictures from the air. But Madeira also has fascinating sides, especially for hikers, which I have tried to capture with drone images. Enjoy the video and “fair winds and following seas”!
