Welcome to another glamorous evening in the lazarette — just me, a rusty rudder post, and a packing gland that wants to stay right there for another 25 years. Armed with heat, tools, and misplaced optimism, I went all-in on removing the base of the gland. Blinded by late night brain fog and seized up in rust and confusion I nearly burnt the boat down, and fully roasted my dignity. The gland sat there, seized solid, not giving an inch, while I sweated and muttered in the dark like a guy trying to negotiate with a brick wall. The kicker? The next morning I managed to pry off the collar, pick out the packing, and the whole rudder post just… fell out on its own. So yeah, this video is basically a highlight reel of me fighting the wrong battle. Today we prepare Indara to leave the marina - topping up water, bringing in the bicycle, securing the cable and passarel - before heading out to sea. With no wind along the Croatian coast, we hoist the sails while motoring, later drop them again, and show every step in between. We also go into detail on anchoring: the first attempt didn’t hold, so we had to drop the anchor a second time. Real sailing isn’t always perfect, but that’s part of the journey. Sometimes sailing isn’t about speed and drama - it’s about patience, sweat, small rituals, and enjoying the slow rhythm of life afloat. Today, we are waiting on parts at Dowry Creek Marina, so we are knocking out a few projects. This one is a simple swap of the accumulator tank. How did we know it had failed? When I tried to add air, water pushed out of the bladder. That tells you the tank is done. On our 2000 Moody 46 we have spent the refit trying to set things up so you can replace common parts without digging for a toolbox. Der dortige Gala-Abend war für uns alle eine kulturelle Bereicherung und wir waren viel mit den Gleichaltrigen in Austausch. Grocery shopping becomes an adventure of its own, fuel runs mean hauling endless jerry cans, and spare parts are high on the mission list. Luckily, we’ve found the perfect base — tied up to an incredible fishing pontoon/restaurant that’s become a safe haven for yachties in an area where anchoring can be seriously tricky. In between the chaos, we ditch the kids for a day and jump on a scooter mission through the backstreets of Ambon. We get completely lost, weaving through people’s houses, riding through kitchens and laundries, before stumbling across a hidden lush rainforest waterfall right in the middle of the city! It’s been a wild, action-packed few days, but the boat is stocked, fuel tanks are full, and we’re finally ready to continue the adventure towards Wangi Wangi, the stunning atolls of Wakatobi, and the remote shipbuilding island of Taka Bonerate. 🌴⛵ Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and come along for the journey!

We had a bunch of groceries, laundry and shopping to do before we sailed to Fiji. We explored a cool cave, strolled along beaches and also met an amazing wood craftsman!
