It is, perhaps, some of the most impressive footage of the AC40 ever captured, with Emirates Team New Zealand today docking-out into a summer howler of a Hauraki Gulf with a mean of 17-23 knots but gusts way up into the high twenties. In those conditions it’s all about control and communication and on both accounts the sailors passed the test of outright seamanship with flying colours. Weeks of boat work will make you forget why you started. One day back on the water fixed that. ⛵ We're headed south down Florida's ICW to Fort Pierce for a haul-out — and this transit day reminded us exactly why we chose this crazy, beautiful life. Rhys took the helm and honestly? He's got skills. Our brand new watermaker fired up for its first real underway test and hit 27 gallons per hour. And yes, chicken nuggets in the air fryer might have been the highlight of the day for the little ones. 🍕 Real talk — this is what sailboat family life actually looks like. It's life raft drop-offs and boost pump fixes AND sunshine, freedom, and your kid calling vessels on the radio like a pro. It's messy, it's beautiful, and we wouldn't trade it. The boat isn't perfect. The generator is being moody. The project list never ends. But we're moving. And the best part? We're just getting started. 👀 👇 Are you living the liveaboard dream, or dreaming about it? Tell us below! 🔔 Hit Subscribe — you don't want to miss where we're heading next.
It's high time to move our sailboat south to warmer weather but instead we go further north to check out the Tall ships in Chester town, Maryland. On the night of April 14th, 1912, not long after RMS Titanic struck an iceberg on the North Atlantic, several of her passengers and crew spotted the lights of a mystery ship on the horizon. Tragically, this ship, now thought to be the Leyland Liner SS Californian never responded to Titanic's distress signals. What happened on the Californian that night and did she watch Titanic sink? Conto
After Hospital Delays, Cold Weather, and Missed Windows, we finally point the bow south… after hospital delays, cold snaps, and way too much staring at weather models. ❄️⛵️ This leg takes us from York River Yacht Haven in Gloucester, VA down to Wrightsville Beach, NC, with all the nerves that come from leaving the Chesapeake and thinking very hard about Cape Hatteras. From missed weather windows to second-guessing every decision, this is one of those passages where the mental game is just as intense as the sailing. Will the weather cooperate? Will Hatteras behave? Will we ever stop refreshing Windy? Spoiler: we leave anyway. If you’ve ever delayed a departure “just one more day,” worried about rounding a cape, or wondered why sailors talk about weather like it’s a personal enemy — this one’s for you. #ColdWeatherSailing #SailingAnxiety #ChesapeakeBay #CapeHatteras

Episode 254 Stormbound in Shoalhaven We drop anchor in the Shoalhaven just in time for a wild storm — heavy rain, strong wind, and a river flooding around us while we hope our Rocna Mk2 holds. When the weather finally clears, we head north toward Sydney… straight into a windless but absolutely disgusting leftover sea state. Big swells, messy chop, and relentless rain make for a slow, soggy, uncomfortable ride. With no wind for most of the passage, a tiny breeze finally shows up right at the end — but will it be enough to carry us north? https://Rocna.com https://www.facpebook.com/share/1AE2Z2xjCz/ #Rocnaanchors SailorsBay Check out this App http://www.sailorsbay.app/ Thank you to all our subscribers, without you the channel would not exist! What is antifoul and why do boats need it? 🌊⛵ Antifoul is a protective coating applied below the waterline to prevent marine growth like barnacles, weed, and slime from attaching to a boat’s hull. In this reel, we break down what antifoul does, why it’s essential for performance and efficiency, and why choosing the right type matters — especially for aluminium boats like ours. Drop your questions in the comments and follow along for more life at sea, boat basics, and family-friendly sailing adventures. 🎥 New YouTube episodes every Saturday morning (Brisbane time) 📍 Sailing full-time aboard our 52ft aluminium catamaran
