On the night of April 14th, 1912, not long after RMS Titanic struck an iceberg on the North Atlantic, several of her passengers and crew spotted the lights of a mystery ship on the horizon. Tragically, this ship, now thought to be the Leyland Liner SS Californian never responded to Titanic's distress signals. What happened on the Californian that night and did she watch Titanic sink? Part 154 of a series: Sailing Tampa Bay to Key West. Stormy weather approaches while sailing Charlotte Harbor in south west Florida. Sailing to a secret location, the wind increases and the main sail is reefed.
Boating around St. Joseph Sound out of Tarpon Springs, FL. Anchored off Honeymoon Island.
@sailingmanatee

After Hospital Delays, Cold Weather, and Missed Windows, we finally point the bow south… after hospital delays, cold snaps, and way too much staring at weather models. ❄️⛵️ This leg takes us from York River Yacht Haven in Gloucester, VA down to Wrightsville Beach, NC, with all the nerves that come from leaving the Chesapeake and thinking very hard about Cape Hatteras. From missed weather windows to second-guessing every decision, this is one of those passages where the mental game is just as intense as the sailing. Will the weather cooperate? Will Hatteras behave? Will we ever stop refreshing Windy? Spoiler: we leave anyway. If you’ve ever delayed a departure “just one more day,” worried about rounding a cape, or wondered why sailors talk about weather like it’s a personal enemy — this one’s for you. #ColdWeatherSailing #SailingAnxiety #ChesapeakeBay #CapeHatteras

While investigating a leak in our top deck we found a really huge hole that was repaired by what I can only describe as "bubblegum and duct tape". Only this was half chewed and no longer sticky. We repaired the issue and all is well but it too led to yet another project that led to another, that led to..., well, you get the point! lol

Episode 254 Stormbound in Shoalhaven We drop anchor in the Shoalhaven just in time for a wild storm — heavy rain, strong wind, and a river flooding around us while we hope our Rocna Mk2 holds. When the weather finally clears, we head north toward Sydney… straight into a windless but absolutely disgusting leftover sea state. Big swells, messy chop, and relentless rain make for a slow, soggy, uncomfortable ride. With no wind for most of the passage, a tiny breeze finally shows up right at the end — but will it be enough to carry us north? https://Rocna.com https://www.facpebook.com/share/1AE2Z2xjCz/ #Rocnaanchors SailorsBay Check out this App http://www.sailorsbay.app/ Thank you to all our subscribers, without you the channel would not exist! Please do consider subscribing (It's FREE) and we very much hope you enjoy our adventures on the water in beautiful Pembrokeshire and beyond :) We have very recently rearranged, and rebranded, our channel to keep everything powerboat related on this channel - 'Powerboating Adventures' - bear with us while we rebrand some of our earlier films albeit they are great memories!!
What is antifoul and why do boats need it? 🌊⛵ Antifoul is a protective coating applied below the waterline to prevent marine growth like barnacles, weed, and slime from attaching to a boat’s hull. In this reel, we break down what antifoul does, why it’s essential for performance and efficiency, and why choosing the right type matters — especially for aluminium boats like ours. Drop your questions in the comments and follow along for more life at sea, boat basics, and family-friendly sailing adventures. 🎥 New YouTube episodes every Saturday morning (Brisbane time) 📍 Sailing full-time aboard our 52ft aluminium catamaran

We’ve officially left paradise behind and set our sights on Ambon… but this leg of the journey isn’t exactly smooth sailing. With food supplies running low and the wind refusing to cooperate, things are starting to get a little tense onboard. We make a quick stop at the stunning Gag Island — crystal clear water, untouched beauty… the kind of place you don’t want to leave. But while the views are incredible, there’s something onboard that definitely isn’t. A mystery smell has been haunting Dan for days… and when we finally track it down, let’s just say the freezer had a surprise waiting for us 🤢 After dealing with that disaster, we push on — thinking the worst is behind us. We’re wrong. What follows is an unexpected night sail, navigating in the dark and dropping anchor between reefs with very little margin for error. One small mistake out here can turn serious, fast. This is one of those legs that reminds us — life at sea isn’t always picture perfect. 🎥 In this episode: • Leaving Wayag and the reality of long passages • Running low on food (again…) • Exploring beautiful Gag Island • The mystery freezer disaster revealed • A tense and unexpected night sail • Anchoring between reefs in the dark If you enjoy raw, real sailing adventures — this one’s for you. 👍 Don’t forget to like & subscribe to follow the journey!
