Riccardo De Michele ha iniziato ad andare a vela a 6 anni sul Lago di Bracciano. Le regate le aveva fatte da ragazzo, a 12 anni faceva la prua su un Brigand 750, poi una lunghissima pausa. Perché Riccardo in realtà a fare le regate per molto tempo non ci ha proprio pensato. A metà degli anni ’90, dopo tanti anni che la sua famiglia non aveva una barca, il padre decise di comprare un 14 metri, in legno, una barca assolutamente non da regata. Con la moglie Riccardo tenne questa barca negli anni successivi anche dopo che mancò il padre. Nel 2000 passò a un Waquiez 60 usato, che però non aveva la cabina del marinaio e non lo soddisfava ancora del tutto. Nel 2006 al Salone di Genova notò una barca di Vallicelli che era appena più corta di quella che sarebbe poi stata la sua, lo colpì perché non aveva nessun ingombro a poppa. Il Salone era ad ottobre, a dicembre la moglie di Riccardo si ammala e viene quasi subito operata. A volte la vità ci riserva dei percorsi bizzarri, come quello che ha riportato questo armatore al mondo delle regate. A febbraio del 2007 infattiviene sancita una sostanziale guarigione e uscita dal pericolo per la moglie, questo è stato l’imput per farsi un regalo e in qualche modo riprendere a godersi la vita dopo la grande paura. Ne parlò subito con Andrea Vallicelli e nacque l’idea di fare questo 78 piedi, il futuro H2O. Nasce come barca da assoluta crociera. Vallicelli però gli mi mise un tarlo: ma perché non facciamo un pescaggio più profondo? Poi ancora gli disse, ma perché non andiamo a fare la Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup? Fu l’inizio di un percorso che lo avrebbe portato a vincere per ben sei volte la Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup. Perché ha vinto: Quella di De Michele è una storia di amore per il mare che non è nata per le regate. A queste ci è arrivato tramite un percorso a tratti imprevedibile. Un percorso che passa dalla malattia della moglie e arriva a quel “tarlo” che gli mise in testa Vallicelli. Perché non ci proviamo? E così è stato. Con sei vittorie alla rassegna maxi più prestigiosa. Si è meritato alla grande il premio Owner del Velista dell’Anno.

Nous sommes arrivés à Rotoava, la localité principale de Fakarava. Située au Nord-Ouest de l'atoll, Rotoava, dispose de plusieurs épiceries, restaurants et centres de plongée. Nous avons utilisé les services de Kaina Plongée pour effectuer deux plongées dans la passe Nord. Ces plongées étaient magnifiques et à notre avis plus impressionnantes que la plongée que nous avons effectué dans la passe Sud. On profite des épiceries pour faire l'avitaillement et acheter chez un producteur de bananes un régime entier, car la prochaine destination Toau il n'y a rien !

In this video Harken Engineers and two sailors on the British sailing team discuss the new system. This year, the entirely new Harken ILCA vang system makes its debut. All three components are upgrades from our existing system that remains the ILCA/Laser Class standard after more than 20 years. The upper block is now a 25mm Fly Block with stainless balls and a unique pin shaped and angled to remain in place even under zero tension. The middle double block is in fact a Zircon Fiddle Block with a unique twist (we call it the 'twiddle' in Pewaukee). The lower unit is also distinctive. Une forte tempête est annoncée. On part se réfugier dans un mouillage entouré de mangrove pour affronter ces 45 noeuds de vent. Cette fois ci, on a bien préparé le bateau : on a rangé le Bimini, bloqué l'éolienne, tiré les écoutes, enfermé l'électronique dans le four....ça souffle, ça tonne, les éclairs, le bateau qui gite... Mauvais moment à passer ! Retour du beau temps et fin de notre navigation vers Cienfuegos. A partir de cette ville, visite de l'intérieur de l'île de Cuba (Trinidad, La Havane, Vinales....) au rythme de la musique, des marchés de rue et de balades à cheval.... Pour finir, comme il se doit, par un cigare fabriqué devant nos yeux !!!!
