Gilles Lamiré (La French Tech Rennes Saint-Malo) a remporté la Transat anglaise dans la catégorie des trimarans Multi50 (15,24 m), à New York. Le Malouin de 45 ans a terminé la course en 12 jours, 7 heures et 51 minutes. Il s'agit d'un nouveau record pour sa catégorie. Celui-ci était jusque-là détenu par Eric Brunel sur Trilogic en 2004 (14 jours 1 heure et 23 minutes). The Transat – la course au large en solitaire à l'état pur. Un parcours de 3500 milles à travers l'océan entre la pointe sud de l'Angleterre et New York. C'est un défi rythmé par une succession de dépressions qui balayent l'Atlantique Nord et génèrent des vents de face, grande particularité de cette course. Au début, le record de la traversée était aux alentours de 40 jours. Aujourd'hui, les plus grands spécialistes du solitaire à la barre des bateaux les plus rapides peuvent couvrir la même distance en à peine 8 jours. The sun was shining the current was flowing in our direction and the scenery was fantastic on the ICW. We shared a very busy day on the channel with a lot of very happy boaters just like us. Memorial Day weekend is always a wild one on the water. It is the start of summer and the start of the boating season, and Wrightsville, NC showed up in full force. The positivity was all around us and we were soaking it in. Our hearts were full and we had a full appreciation of how awesome our life on the water is as a liveaboard and had excitement for what the future will bring.
