I edited this video and am in the process of re-uploading it. I’ll send out a notification when it’s complete. When I learned about the older alloy of bronze used for my original rudder hardware, I decided to order all new pintles and gudgeons for the rudder. The bottom gudgeon (also known as the rudder shoe, except mine is an actual gudgeon) was completely cracked, which is what prompted me to look into this hefty expense ($2300USD plus shipping). The annoying part though, was that the last pintle was bolted underneath the rudder cheeks. The last thing I wanted to do was work on the rudder after I had checked it off as “complete” in my task list. But I took a day and got it done, and I’m one step closer to the splash. Revealing the plans for completely changing our bilge as the original stainless steel water tank had to come out due to rust. We need to fit 8 Lithium batteries (total 1680AH) and still need to find space for water storage. We had to start by removing the companionway steps (which need major refurbishment). Fuerteventura with two very esteemed guests in the shape of Freyja and Bubbles. Xanthe's two best mates made a short trip over from the UK to sail and surf around the island. A lot of love bursting out the seams of this episode. Freyja, Xanthe and Bubbles all moved to Australia together more than 8 years ago, and recently they all left to pursue new ventures. Freyja and Bubbles moved back to Old Blighty, and as you can see, Xanthe is sailing around the world at current. Thanks for watching guys.
