My final UK event before heading back to Greece — and what a way to finish! This aquabike (400m swim + 22km bike) pushed me hard, especially battling a strong headwind on the ride. Despite that, I came away with a result I’m really proud of — including 🥇 1st in my age group. Considering that back in October I couldn’t have done any of this, it really shows how far things have come. In this episode, we’re up before dawn, ready to depart for Fakarava—until the port engine refuses to start. After changing the filters, we cautiously make our way toward the pass, but trouble follows us: the port engine dies completely, and the starboard engine won’t rev past 1800 RPMs. We’re baffled and deeply disappointed. Forced to drop anchor, we spend the entire day troubleshooting a cascade of mechanical issues. By nightfall, we think we’ve solved them, and at first light the next morning, we set off once again for Fakarava.
