After a pause for work we bring back Evergreen from Maine back to mass. Amazing sunsets, rain, night sailing, encounter with sister ships and the most amazing sunset beam sailing to Boston !

Zum Start und auf der Kreuz nach Wilhelmshöhe gab es Wind mit bis zu 30 Knoten und dann kam auch noch Regen dazu ... Die Segelyachten zeigten sich hiervon unbeeindruckt und absolvierten den bekannten Kurs zur Reedetonne und zurück zum Leuchtturm noch vor dem nächsten Schauer. Da der Sieger von letzter Woche - SY Silence - sich entschieden hatte, Crew und Material für das am Wochenende bevorstehende Blaue Band der Warnow zu schonen, zahlten sich die vielen Tauchgänge und auch die sonstige unermüdliche Bootspflegearbeit des Skippers von SY Monk aus und er führte den wie immer frisch polierten Rumpf (der Yacht) als erstes über die Ziellinie. Ansonsten sind Parallelen zur letzten Woche zu erkennen. Die Sonne versteckt sich immer hartnäckiger hinter den Wolken und die Nacht nimmt wieder einen deutlich größeren Teil unseres Lebens ein ... der Herbst ist da.

So after a windless uneventful motoring trip from Santa Cruz to Moss Landing, Jonah arrived at the Elkhorn marina and rafted up to a Catalina 22 named "Merri Time". What a charming place the Elkhorn YC is. [04] Morning broke to a gray and wet start. [05] Peculiar vocalizings alluded to 50 kt winds in the forecast, and much debate as to if departure was even prudent. [06] I pushed off the dock nonetheless. [07] But not before seeing the first retirement, before the cruise even began. [08] Another largely windless, uneventful motoring trip was had from Elkhorn to Monterey. [09] Let's continue this informal sight-seeing tour of the Challenge fleet, shall we? [10] And as if by magic, the Catboat reappears - Hooray! [11] Well, it's the day of the race, and excitement is running high! [12] Here we are, out on the water. Pre-race. [13] Broad-reaching on the first downwind leg Intro: [00a] I'm attending the Potters Yachters’ signature racing event, known as the Monterey Cruiser Challenge this year. [00b] The event is a laid-back regatta for trailerable pocket cruisers under 26 feet whose primary purpose isn’t racing. [00c] A cruise-in from Moss Landing will take place tomorrow Friday (8/28) [00d] so I sailed from SC to Moss Landing today.
